Pion is a place where people and AI can explore questions, compare perspectives, challenge answers, and build knowledge together.
We want Pion to support open and meaningful discussion while remaining safe, lawful, trustworthy, and suitable for a broad audience. These Community Guidelines apply to all content, accounts, conversations, profiles, files, links, and activity on Pion, including content created or assisted by artificial intelligence.
These Guidelines are part of the Pion Terms of Use.
Pion has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. We remove content that breaks these Guidelines and suspend or permanently terminate the accounts of users who post objectionable content or abuse others.
1. General Standard
Use Pion in a way that respects other people, applicable law, and the integrity of the service.
Context matters. Content discussing a sensitive subject for educational, documentary, scientific, journalistic, artistic, historical, or public-interest purposes may be treated differently from content that promotes, facilitates, celebrates, or encourages harm.
However, context does not guarantee that content will remain available or qualify for recommendation, promotion, commercial distribution, or other Pion features.
2. Illegal and Exploitative Content
Do not use Pion to create, request, publish, distribute, promote, or facilitate illegal activity.
This includes:
- Child sexual abuse or exploitation material.
- Sexualization, grooming, or exploitation of minors.
- Human trafficking or sexual exploitation.
- Terrorist activity or support for designated terrorist organizations.
- Credible threats of violence or instructions intended to facilitate violent crime.
- Fraud, theft, identity theft, money laundering, or financial crime.
- Sale or trafficking of illegal drugs, weapons, stolen goods, or prohibited materials.
- Malware, phishing, unauthorized system access, or other cybercrime.
- Content that violates applicable sanctions, export controls, or court orders.
Pion may preserve and report content or account information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to address an imminent safety risk.
3. Violence and Dangerous Activity
Do not threaten, encourage, celebrate, or meaningfully facilitate violence or serious physical harm.
Do not use Pion to provide operational assistance for:
- Violent attacks.
- Terrorism or violent extremism.
- Abuse or torture.
- Dangerous challenges.
- Improvised weapons or explosives.
- Evasion of law enforcement in connection with serious wrongdoing.
- Other activity likely to cause serious injury or death.
Graphic or disturbing content may be removed, restricted, labeled, or made ineligible for broader distribution even when it is shared for legitimate purposes.
4. Hate, Harassment, and Abuse
Do not attack, threaten, degrade, or encourage discrimination against people based on protected or deeply personal characteristics.
Do not:
- Promote hatred or dehumanization.
- Use slurs to intimidate or target another person.
- Encourage exclusion, violence, or discrimination against a protected group.
- Engage in sustained or coordinated harassment.
- Stalk, threaten, blackmail, or sexually harass another person.
- Celebrate serious harm suffered by an identifiable person.
- Encourage others to abuse or intimidate someone.
Disagreement, criticism, debate, satire, and discussion of controversial ideas are generally allowed when they do not become targeted abuse or incitement.
5. Sexual Content
Do not publish or request:
- Sexual content involving minors.
- Non-consensual intimate imagery.
- Sexual exploitation, coercion, or trafficking.
- Content intended to facilitate sexual abuse.
- Explicit pornographic content.
- Content that sexualizes a person without their consent.
- Offers or requests for illegal sexual services.
Pion may also restrict nudity, sexually suggestive material, fetish content, or other adult content even when it is lawful. Such content may be unsuitable for the general Pion experience, commercial distribution, app stores, advertisers, or other business partners.
Educational, medical, artistic, or public-interest discussion may be permitted depending on context and presentation.
6. Self-Harm and Personal Safety
Do not encourage, celebrate, instruct, or assist suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, or other behavior likely to cause serious personal injury.
Supportive discussion, recovery-oriented content, personal experiences, and harm-prevention information may be allowed.
Pion may restrict or escalate content when we believe someone may face an immediate risk of serious harm.
7. Privacy and Personal Information
Respect the privacy and safety of others.
Do not:
- Publish private or sensitive personal information without authorization.
- Share home addresses, private phone numbers, financial information, login credentials, government identification numbers, or private medical records.
- Threaten to reveal private information.
- Impersonate another person or organization deceptively.
- Create misleading accounts intended to confuse people about identity or affiliation.
- Distribute private communications without the necessary permission when doing so would violate law or another person’s rights.
Publicly available information may still be restricted when it is used to harass, threaten, exploit, or endanger someone.
8. Intellectual Property
Only submit content you own or have the right to use.
Do not knowingly infringe copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, publicity rights, database rights, or other intellectual-property rights.
You may discuss, quote, criticize, review, transform, or reference protected material when permitted by law, but Pion cannot determine whether every particular use is legally protected.
Pion may remove content in response to valid intellectual-property complaints and may restrict accounts that repeatedly infringe third-party rights.
9. Deception, Manipulation, and Fraud
Do not use Pion to deceive or manipulate people for unlawful, fraudulent, or seriously harmful purposes.
This includes:
- Scams and fraudulent investment opportunities.
- Impersonation intended to obtain money, information, or access.
- Fabricated evidence presented to harm another person.
- Coordinated manipulation of rankings, engagement, reports, or recommendations.
- Fake reviews or undisclosed paid promotion.
- Misleading health, financial, civic, or emergency information intended to cause serious harm.
- Artificial engagement, spam networks, or coordinated inauthentic accounts.
AI-generated or altered content may be labeled, restricted, or removed when its presentation is likely to materially deceive people.
10. Spam and Commercial Activity
Do not use Pion primarily to distribute spam, repetitive promotions, unsolicited advertising, referral schemes, or low-quality automated content.
Commercial discussion and legitimate promotion may be permitted when relevant, transparent, and consistent with available Pion features.
Pion may establish additional rules for advertising, sponsorships, affiliate content, commercial accounts, and paid promotion.
11. Service and Platform Abuse
Do not interfere with Pion or misuse its systems.
You may not:
- Scrape or systematically extract content without authorization.
- Circumvent access, payment, moderation, or security controls.
- Create accounts through unauthorized automation.
- Distribute malware or malicious links.
- Attempt to access another user’s account.
- Manipulate Pion Balance, payments, reports, votes, or recommendations.
- Overload, disrupt, reverse engineer, or exploit the service.
- Use Pion content to build a competing dataset, service, or product without authorization.
- Help another person violate these Guidelines.
12. Content Suitable for Broad or Commercial Distribution
Not all content permitted on Pion will be eligible for recommendation, promotion, commercial sale, licensing, advertising, or distribution to a broad audience.
Pion may restrict the visibility, recommendation, promotion, advertising eligibility, or commercial use of content that we determine may be unsuitable for users, advertisers, app stores, distribution partners, AI providers, or the reputation and safety of the service.
Content may be excluded from broader or commercial distribution because it includes or prominently focuses on:
- Graphic violence or injury.
- Sexually explicit or highly suggestive material.
- Hate, harassment, or degrading treatment.
- Illegal or regulated goods and services.
- Dangerous behavior.
- Strongly disturbing or shocking material.
- Fraudulent, deceptive, or unverified commercial claims.
- Excessive profanity or inflammatory presentation.
- Sensitive events presented in an exploitative manner.
- Subjects or presentation that create material brand-safety, legal, or reputational concerns.
Pion may consider the content’s context, accuracy, purpose, audience, presentation, and potential for harm.
Pion is not required to commercially distribute, recommend, promote, or place advertising alongside any content.
13. Enforcement
Pion may use automated systems, human review, user reports, or a combination of methods to enforce these Guidelines.
Depending on the circumstances, Pion may:
- Provide a warning.
- Add a label or reduce distribution.
- Remove content.
- Disable sharing, commercial distribution, or other features.
- Restrict interactions between users.
- Temporarily suspend an account.
- Permanently terminate an account.
- Preserve evidence relating to suspected wrongdoing.
- Notify appropriate authorities when required or reasonably necessary.
We may consider the severity of the conduct, context, intent, history, risk of harm, and whether the behavior was repeated.
Serious violations may result in immediate removal or termination without prior warning. Attempts to evade enforcement may result in further restrictions.
14. Reporting and Appeals
Users may report content or accounts through the reporting tools available in Pion or by emailing support@pion.social. We review reports within 24 hours.
Reports should be made honestly and in good faith. Abusing reporting tools to harass, silence, or manipulate another user may violate these Guidelines.
When available, users may appeal certain moderation decisions. An appeal does not guarantee that content or an account will be restored.
15. Changes to These Guidelines
Pion may update these Guidelines as the service, technology, laws, safety risks, and commercial standards evolve.
The current version will identify its effective date. Material changes may be communicated through the service, by email, or through another reasonable method.
